Been looking at lots of blogs where everyone is wonderful with their sketches.. decided with our alphabet challenge, wanted to just experiment and try lots of different things....so in C for couch.. did some quick pen and ink, then splashed in some color.. it was a kick!! its a tad out of balance, and adding the tree, may not have been the best idea.. but i didn't want to stop, was having fun!!! LOL took about 10 minutes or less!!
need to do a bit more on my wishy washy challenge it's due.. have a great saturday!!

today on painting friends we challenged ourselves to try and paint a quick sketch a day.. we are using the alphabet as our guide.. so today we started with A.. lol

we have a few avocado trees so thought, ok that will be different... since they are hass avo's, they have bumpy skin.. first i tried just pressing the scott towel lightly, over fresh paint, to give it some texture, but it just wasn't enough.. so i re-wet, adding light wash of color and used my stylus, while still wet.. i think that gives it a great suggestion of bumps.. with out painting every single bump!!! LOL these look yummy, wish they were ripe, would have an avo sandwich...

Happy memorial day!!! Thank you to all the men and women who served and helped make this country the wonderful place it is! Thought this was a good painting for today!!..,A wonderful farm in Pa!! Being i've never been in Pa , except a small corner on my way to NiagaraFalls.. so this is pure imagination..
This painting was done from a photograph provided on the blog Different Strokes From Different Folks, where artists are encouraged to paint or draw their own interpretations. The photo was offered in black and white and up to the artists, to bring out the color!!! Hope i did it justice!!
Have a wonderful day all!!! Enjoy a safe holiday!!
ps oops!! this is a tad small.. by clicking on this and/or any painting in blog.. they will increase in size!!

For our final class this semester, we did a portrait.. we used three colors.. aliz crim, yellow ochre, and fum blue.. (i did sneak in a bit of cb, and qo..!!) the teachers example had a hat and i thought, hmmmmmmm??? not a bad idea, then i don't need to do the hair!!!! LOL

so got out an old gardening hat and asked hubby if he would pose?? sadly he didn't smile~~ as the sun was in his eyes, but actually the gruff, rough and tough look, added to the cowboy mode!! don't ya' think?? rather pleased with this one.. and my favorite part i think is the eyes.. see close up!! so off to find another unsuspecting person, to try again..!!

the sun is shining and outdoors is calling my name...planted tomatoes yesterday, stung up the boysenberries, before they got out of control and netted the fruit trees before the birds ate all the fruit.. so today may sit by the pond and kick back and enjoy!!

today was my thursday class.. with my colorful teacher... i think i mentioned we were going to do a rodeo rider... when i originally looked at the photo, i wasnt that excited, but then after seeing what he put in the painting and how he did the dust~~ i thought hey, this might be fun!!! and it was!!
the teacher keeps asking me why i dont sell my work?? first of all who would by it?? LOL and also i feel it would become like a job.. and i dont want a job.. looking to have fun and just relax!!
in tomorrow's class we are doing portraits.. and of course i'm in hog heaven!! going to try and paint one of my hubby.. fingers crossed it looks something like him..
have a nice night, will be back tomorow~~~

been really busy lately... between painting, dancing and cleaning out the pond.. no time left over..
this is the dreaded pond... lol have lifted those rocks way too many times now.. and even tho its finally REALLY clean .. for some reason, it still leaks!! aargggghh!!!
but i have to say its wonderful to sit out there and hear the waterfall , the birds chirping and the chimes gently blowing in the breeze.. its really relaxing.... so i guess its worth it!! lol
have three art classes this week and hopefully will be able to post a new painting soon...started a rodeo rider, flying by her barrel.. that is good so far.. keeping fingers crossed!!!
off to tie up grapes and plant some tomatoes.... and tonight is dance class.. can't get much better than that!!

it a beautiful day today.. been lazing round out by the pond.. it maybe leaking, but the water is so calming i'll just keep filling it up till we figure out what the heck is going on...
did the koi awhile back.. the part i enjoyed the most was the scales.. they look so real.. after doing the back ground and it still being wet..., quickly wipe out the shape of the fish with a damp brush..... let it all dry.. then get a bag that carries oranges/onions. and the cut a piece out(6x6) and stapled it on piece of card board 6x6 , with a hole already cut in the middle (about 4x4 hole)... lay the cardboard over your fish, with the soft colors from the background are still showing and with a thirsty rag.. wet and dap the color off... where you want want your fish scales.. make sure you keep the cardboard very still and don't move it.. it will remove the rest of the color, except whre the lines are in the bag..and leave the blue looking area ,for the scales.. different size bags are out there get the size that will owrk the best for your fish!! practice on a piece of paper first, by just throwing down paint and letting it dry.. then just have fun!! you can then do it also where you have put in the red or yellow later, on your fish!! add the eyes and whiskers and.. a koi..!!
