YOP for sept!!

every month we have a new challenge in our YOP... ( year of painting) this month our challenge, on painting friends, ann picked a wonderful female cardinal photo, for us to paint... i love how everyone made it their own and had fun with it..some used saran wrap and crinkled it all up in the background.. pretty clever.. sure made it seem brrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr.. i had fun splattering the snow.. and it covered a few errors LOL if you want to get in on the fun.. just sign in at paintingfriends.com.. and we'd love to show you around!! whew, got back in here, within a few days..i may get on a roll here and not take so long to come back again... fingers crossed.. hope everyone is doing good and maybe starting to notice a little fall in the air.. see ya soon!!

been missing in action a bit here and have missed saying hi.. so between weed pulling and cleaning house, thought i'd stop in and say a big HI!! first of all thanks to stephie for permission to use this wonderful photo... a lot of us on painting friends thought we give him a try... and the results were amazing... in pastels, watercolor, and oils etc..

found this drawing sitting around while cleaning my art room, drew it for a class i didnt attent a couple months back..so thought what the heck, its drawn.. might as well go for it!! had fun doing it but dang its so tight, it squeaks.. lol i think two of my new years resolutions in two weeks are going to have to be...1. try looser, 2.darker darks!!!! hopefully at the end of next year, i can look back and see some improvement.. hey, i can always hope!!!LOL

yippee.. i think i got it~~~

after yesterday's disaster thought id try again.. this time i put the frisket down first.. then painted the frog instead of poring then painting the frog..(..photo one!!) cause last color on, is the one that shows most and i need to sink this little guy.. at least part way.. i actually like him better before sinking... but on with the assignment!! this is the final painting.. i would like to show a bit more murkiness in the water but if i do that, ill lose the froggie!! i love the frog and the frisket areas.. so i think this is where i need to stop!!

now its time to thank deb ward, for the encouragement to try this.. if you read the disaster previous.. post.. i want to add.. i had a blast and learned lots and will defiantly try it again.. and sink is white and sparkling again..!!! YIPPEE!! how ever if anyone ever opens my pipes, under the sink!!.. they are going to find the most colorful plumbing around!!! LOL

Remembered i had photo of a lion, from my colorful art teacher, Tom Tiedeman.. i hadn't used it yet cause i missed the class!! Wanted to try and see if i could get the wonderful bold colors he gets...

This is on arches 140, the colors used: yellow ochre, fum blue, brown madder and a bit of indigo to get the darks.. really dark!!

hmmmmmmm??? interesting..?? yesterday i tried to load this and the words came out in hindu??? couldn't seem to fix, so i deleted it... or so i thought!! this morning looking at a friends blog, there it was~~~ in hindu??? but its not on my blog???

not sure what button i hit or didn't..but trying again..lol

this is a painting from my friday class from awhile back..looking at it now i can see that it could use a few darks... but i seem to struggle with that dark thingy still...

Rooster paint a long~~~

Our paint a long for this month, on Painting Friends, is a rooster.. i chose the most colorful photo i could find!!! glad hes painting and not cock a doodle doing, outside my bedroom window at 4 am!!! LOL

had fun with his scrawny legs and used used a bit of salt, to make them seem bumpy and rough..

have a ton of errands today, but hopefully will be home in time to try, the new challenge on dsfdf.. looks interesting!!

well i guess i fibbed.. B wasn't for balloons after all.. it was for Bird!! im on a roll painting one a day and im on day two!!! woo hooo!!! thanks to wc and dave slaughter, for the neat photo!!

need to go finish my wishy washy team painting with peppers... supposed to be ready tomorrow.. need to get hopping!!

Been really busy with gkids and finishing up classes this week.. a few more weeks till summer school begins... so i can kinda just play with paintings and do some that i have been wanting to do for awhile..

Painted this kitty when i belonged to the first art forum, a friend and i had gone to the beach to paint for a week .. what fun.. no cooking, cleaning, shopping, etc.... just painting.. what a life!!! the sand was at our door and the waves splashing about 100 ft away!!!! yep!! i could get use to that in a hurry...

today was my thursday class.. with my colorful teacher... i think i mentioned we were going to do a rodeo rider... when i originally looked at the photo, i wasnt that excited, but then after seeing what he put in the painting and how he did the dust~~ i thought hey, this might be fun!!! and it was!!

the teacher keeps asking me why i dont sell my work?? first of all who would by it?? LOL and also i feel it would become like a job.. and i dont want a job.. looking to have fun and just relax!!

in tomorrow's class we are doing portraits.. and of course i'm in hog heaven!! going to try and paint one of my hubby.. fingers crossed it looks something like him..

it a beautiful day today.. been lazing round out by the pond.. it maybe leaking, but the water is so calming i'll just keep filling it up till we figure out what the heck is going on...

did the koi awhile back.. the part i enjoyed the most was the scales.. they look so real.. after doing the back ground and it still being wet..., quickly wipe out the shape of the fish with a damp brush..... let it all dry.. then get a bag that carries oranges/onions. and the cut a piece out(6x6) and stapled it on piece of card board 6x6 , with a hole already cut in the middle (about 4x4 hole)... lay the cardboard over your fish, with the soft colors from the background are still showing and with a thirsty rag.. wet and dap the color off... where you want want your fish scales.. make sure you keep the cardboard very still and don't move it.. it will remove the rest of the color, except whre the lines are in the bag..and leave the blue looking area ,for the scales.. different size bags are out there get the size that will owrk the best for your fish!! practice on a piece of paper first, by just throwing down paint and letting it dry.. then just have fun!! you can then do it also where you have put in the red or yellow later, on your fish!! add the eyes and whiskers and.. a koi..!!

just finished my painting from class last thursday... this is a mountain lion... he's done very loosely except for his eyes and nose.. the rest is lots of wet in wet and mushing the paint.. so not to get too many hard lines...

after i finished i took colbolt blue and put it over the whole left side, so its appears to be in the shade.. hope it worked..

today is wishy washy day!! and we each put in our paintings!!

the idea behind our paintings, was to just work with a few colors, to have all sorts of yummy greys... let them bleed and run into each other and come out with an elephant. did draw in the legs and placemnet of the eye.. i left lots of white on the top of his head and down the front of his trunk. then at the end~ negative painted around him, to give him form!! this was really fun!!! colors used were..ac,umb,cerblue,and ay..

off to work .. hoping for time to play a bit more with WC, later today!!

Today is gorgeous outside.. the sun is shining and the birds are singing...

Going out to work on the pond in a few~~ After all that hard work last weekend.. its so clean and pretty,... but still leaking!!! arggggggggggggh!!.. so i'll see if i can figure out what the heck is going on.. before we owe the water company a bundle!!

My g-daughter is heading this way soon.. So that will be a fun day of painting, shopping and proably nibbling.. lol

This white lab is a painting i did a few weeks back, in one of my classes.. Dont ya' just want to pat his head??

last night stayed up really late, reading everyone's blogs.. wow!! some beautiful paintings!!!

today need to do some real work .. LOL...then going to try a few of the challenges, on painting friends.. they are really raising the bar.. hope i can keep up...

the sun has been shining, was actually high 80's the last few days. so might go paint outside today~~

this is a painting i did last year at the beach. a friend of mine, deb w. and i, try to get away every couple months for a week of painting...hhmmmm???? i think we are over due..
